DJ Lady D |
Chicago's first lady of House, DJ Lady D (Darlene Jackson) is an electronic musician hailing
from Chicago, who was (when she began in 1995) Chicago's only female DJ playing
entirely underground house music. Lady D marries the classic tracks of Chicago's past with
the choicest four-to-the-floor stomps of today, and always throws down a soulful and sinful
set peppered with electro, acid and techno leanings. Influenced by legends and
encouraged by dance music veterans, "The Chicago House scene would be incomplete
without Lady D," as stated by noted dance music writer Luke Magnuson for Epitonic.com.
Lady D is a prolific writer and poet whose spoken word vocal stylings captured the attention
of Felix Da Housecat who remixed her smash, High Again. Her projects have appeared on
vinyl (D'lectable, Vista, BlackJack, Body Music, AfterHours) and mixed compilations such
as the famed Journeys By DJs series (John Selway mix). As Lady D continues to
develop her production skills, she is becoming known for her deft edits and self-produced
promotional mixed CD's as well as the now classic, critically acclaimed compilation, Naked
Kaleidoscope (AfterHours Music).

Her finest hearing brings old, almost forgotten stars alive, creating her own gritty soul version of soulmusic in clubs in Greece, Spain, Italy and Austria and more. Her first professional demo-album took a while to find the right distributor and was recorded in July 2004 in Barcelona at ZUB music production, a Swedish / Spanish record label.
